Bilz News from the Pews – August 13, 2009

Last Sunday, the 9th, I introduced the speaker at All Souls. The
message “Reflections on the Experience of a Newcomer”, was by Rev. Gail
Geisenhainer. Her talk was just tremendous, and an amazing example of
great UU sermons and of a person with a personal story about how it
feels to be in a minority, as well as the meaning of true 'Beloved
Community.' There probably was not an entirely dry eye in the church
for the 35 minutes of this talk.

Almost never in the last 10 years have people asked me if we could have
the same message again – perhaps yearly. I've had phone calls from
members who were there – just to say 'Thank You for that Wonderful and
Powerful message.”

We own the DVD with the message on it at All Souls, and can always
arrange for copies as well as showings to anyone who wants to see it.
That anyone could include 'anyone' from any kind of lifestyle, gender,
race, income bracket, political or social belief, and really should.

Linda led a beautiful service, Ayesha played – and SANG, as well as
playing the organ and piano. Is there NO musical talent that young lady
doesn't have? (and she has a lovely voice, too!)

After church we held a baby shower(s) for Margaret and Joon and Liz and
Eric, to celebrate your two newest members.

AND – we had several guests who are coming back this Sunday with more of
their family members.

Things are good at All Souls!

That's all for this week.

See You in Church!

Bill
