Yesterday was a wonderful day at All Souls. In the words of Mr Monk, ‘Here’s what happened…..’ Sandy was the leader and did her usual lovely job of putting together readings and music to create a service around Walt Kania’s message… Then – the chorus sang and we had a new women’s trio who also sang – ever so nicely! And, then Ayesha played a Christmas season piece on the piano, and the whole church sighed from the beauty of that piece. Ayesha plays so beautifully. We are SO fortunate to have her playing for us! THEN – Walt Kanis was our speaker and his topic was about the mysteries of Machu Picchu – where he and Ann visited recently – maybe over the last month, even. But – his topic was really about spiritual experiences – you know – the kind that just happen to you from time-to-time when you aren’t looking for one or expecting miracles. For me, that was one of the very best messages I’ve heard in nearly 10 years at All Souls. It got TO me and I can’t say enough about it. Finally – the closing hymn was one we’ve not sung before that I remember. I was a lovely piece with a pretty tune and I didn’t want to stop singing when we got to the end of it. BUT – the piece that just made the day for me – even after all of that – was that a young, new couple who have been at All Souls the last 2 weeks and have adopted us as their church (and their kids have taken over, too) – said that they’d be really excited and ‘totally ready’ to take over maintaining and updating and working on the All Souls website. That’s G R E A T news, and tonite, Teresa (her name and his is Adam and they have two little kids and their last name is Johnston) – Teresa has already started working at looking the site over, added an All Souls account on Facebook and Twitter, and… they’re on a role! So – you see – Sunday the 13th was a wonderful day at All Souls! See you in church – or rather at the PotLuck Brunch this Sunday – where it will be all about food and conversation and being together at this happy and joyous time of year! Bill Millikin -
